The Bruderhof – A retreat centre for corporate seminars and yoga retreats in the Black Forest

In the heart of the Black Forest, far away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, Uwe Zell has created a retreat centre that focuses on nature, humanity and encounters. The Bruderhof, a historic property dating back to 1679, was purchased by him in 2017 and renovated with great sensitivity. The original charm has been preserved, from the 300-year-old floorboards to the traditional Herrgottswinkel.

A place with history and soul

The story of how the Bruderhof came to be is as extraordinary as the retreat centre itself. Uwe Zell discovered the place in 2004 when he was writing his thesis in Australia and was introduced to the Black Forest by a friend. He has been fascinated by the tranquillity of the area ever since.

A place for inspiration and relaxation

The Bruderhof offers a unique atmosphere that invites creativity and relaxation on 2000 square metres of land. Whether for yoga retreats, team building, seminars, workshops and offsites, or individual time out in a group with family and friends, modern amenities blend with historic surroundings.

The region offers idyllic meadows, forests, walking trails, the impressive Ravenna Gorge with its waterfalls and year-round activities around the Feldberg – the highest peak in the region.

Unique facilities

The yoga programme is still in its beginning, but the combination of inspiring surroundings and warm hospitality makes the Bruderhof an ideal place for yogis. Participants can expect a relaxed and authentic atmosphere – with space for personal fulfilment.

A visionary start with yoga

A 45 m² room is available for yoga retreats. Basic yoga mat equipment is provided. In addition, smaller rooms such as the cosy library invite you to retreat and relax. The retreat centre has a total of 13 comfortable rooms (including 6 double rooms and 7 single rooms), as well as an extra room with shower and toilet on the corridor. The Bruderhof can accommodate a maximum of 20 people.

Wellness and modern facilities

The Bruderhof has an inviting spa area with sauna for relaxing after intensive seminar days or yoga sessions. High-speed fibre-optic internet and electric car charging stations are also available to guests.

Catering

Catering at the Bruderhof is regional and of high quality. Retreatants wake to the smell of freshly baked bread and enjoy home-cooked meals that reflect the flavours of the Black Forest tradition. The retreat center works exclusively with selected regional cooks and suppliers.
