the daberer
Hotel description
#Diemitdemvogel. That’s what the website says. A little bird chirps at visitors as the brand symbol and stands for a consistently lived concept. It takes a dose of stubbornness to make progress and creativity possible. Welcome to this special yoga hotel that we at BAREFOOT are proud to present to you.
The Daberer is a hotel in the most beautiful nowhere in Carinthia, Austria. An organic hotel out of conviction, not because it is modern. Hotel Daberer has been an organic pioneer since the 1970s. Many awards have been won by the hardworking owner family. The hotel has been awarded the eco-label and is a member of the world’s first Slow Food Travel Region and the Wanderhotels.
Hotel Daberer is now run by the fourth generation of the family, siblings Marianne and Christian. Marianne is the one with the many ideas and Christian is the master of the wine cellar.
The only road leading to Hotel Daberer is the hotel driveway. You will be greeted by absolute peace and tranquillity and a sweeping view of the Carnic Alps. Our own spring supplies the hotel with crystal-clear mountain water – whether for the pool or the tap in your room. Water self-sufficient. How wonderful! A footpath leads to the spring. Large south-facing glass areas make the most of the sun’s energy. Local woods, clay, linen, loden and stone have been chosen for the furnishings.
The spa area is spread over four levels. Stretch out and relax. A favourite spot is always available. No crowds, because the concept was designed with plenty of space in mind – both inside and out.
A special feature is the forest.sauna. The small log cabin in the forest with a Finnish wood-fired sauna has been around for over 40 years.
And then there’s another favourite spot – wald.teich. Situated in a large forest clearing, it looks magical, like something out of a fairy tale. Good in the heat and perfect after a sauna. And in winter? It’s perfect for ice bathing.
In the spa area, you can let yourself be pampered by professionals and be carried away by the scent of high-quality herbal oils.
Yoga at the daberer
A picture book yoga room. The light. The wooden floor. The wood and fabric walls. And best of all – the huge windows to the outside. Four walls inside and a feeling of nature at the same time. Fresh air floods the room. Nature makes the music. The stream babbles to the beat and the forest rustles with the leaves. It’s easy to be with yourself. Yoga on.
Yoga is offered almost daily. The main styles are Hatha Yoga, Vinyasa Flow Yoga, Kundalini Yoga and Yin Yoga. Suitable for beginners and experienced practitioners. There are also longer yoga retreats – and an even wider range of styles.
We particularly like the fact that you can combine any yoga retreat with alkaline fasting. This allows you to have the best of both worlds. A light diet works wonderfully with yoga.
Catering
Organic cuisine is part of the philosophy of life. For the Daberer family, food and drink are as much a part of their essence as their own spring. As a founding member of the Slow Food Convivium Alpe Adria, they know the producers and play an important role themselves. Slow Food stands for clean, fair and good products. The kitchen is certified organic and only organic products are used.
Where the senior chefs laid the foundations many years ago, today cooking is celebrated as a craft. The kitchen is colourful. It is fermented and cooked. Colourful, varied and mindful. Whatever is in season is utilised. All meals are included in the price.
Homemade natural sourdough bread. Raw milk cheese. Farmhouse butter. Handmade rolls. Honey. Bacon. Eggs. Homemade vegetarian and vegan spreads. Fruity jams. Fragrant cinnamon buns. Green and colourful smoothies. Juices. Muesli. Yoghurt. Fruit.
A salad kick from the jar at lunchtime. And in the evening? You can sit back and relax. Everything is served. You put together the menu yourself. Vegetarian, vegan, with meat or fish or a combination?
90-minute cookery workshops are offered every Thursday. ‘Edible forest’, “Fermenting makes you happy” or “Spikey things” – learn from the professionals themselves.
A very special recommendation is alkaline fasting. This has been available here since 2007. You can eat to your heart’s content. Magnificently interpreted vegetable dishes will open your senses. In the evening there is also a dessert – after all, you are on holiday. Alkaline fasting is complemented by treatments. This allows the full effect to be felt throughout the body.
