Ayurveda Resort Mandira
Hotel description
Amidst the rolling hills of green Styria, in Bad Waltersdorf, lies a unique place of peace and relaxation: the Ayurveda Resort Mandira. The Ayurveda hotel combines the ancient wisdom of India with modern conventional and complementary medicine. The hotel’s unique concept is the brainchild of Christina Mauracher, who was introduced to Ayurveda by her mother. She developed Holistic Ayurveda for the European culture.
This holistic approach of the Ayurveda Hotel also includes a great team from different fields of expertise. Akhil Balachandran studied Health Sciences in Bangalore, India, practised in the local hospital and graduated from the University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery.
Dr Alexandra Koller is a general practitioner specialising in holistic and integrative medicine.
Malini Häuslmeier is a traditional Ayurveda specialist and psychotherapist. She has been working in Austria for 35 years.
She offers a wide range of treatments: whether it’s a multi-day Panchakarma cure, a holistic Ayurveda programme, a fountain of youth cure, a detox, a yoga retreat or simply a pleasant stay with your best friend or partner – the idea is to get back in harmony with yourself and find the source of your inner happiness. This is also suggested by the hotel’s new motto, ‘For the Love of Me‘.
Before undergoing an Ayurvedic cure, as well as a yoga retreat and treatments in general, a consultation with an Ayurvedic specialist is recommended. After a pulse diagnosis with dosha determination and clarification of your current physical and mental state, the treatment menu can be tailored precisely to your constitution and needs, leading to the desired long-term success of your Ayurveda retreat.
The hotel’s transfer service is also worth mentioning. The transfer from Vienna Airport is included free of charge for guests staying 7 nights or more. Pick up from the train station is also included.
Yoga at Ayurveda Resort Mandira
Yoga is an important and integral part of the Ayurveda Hotel programme. Yoga is offered daily as part of the activity programme, adapted to the needs of the participants. Gentle yoga is especially recommended for longer Ayurveda treatments. Less is often more.
One of the most important styles at Mandira Ayurveda Resort is Iyengar Yoga. The therapeutic approach to yoga, which often involves the use of ropes, cushions, belts and blankets, fits in perfectly with the overall concept of the hotel. In-house yoga instructor Michael Dalcher also likes to draw on Kundalini Yoga or the teachings of Qigong to gently guide his students through the yoga practice.
Ayurveda expert Akhil Balachandran also offers yoga classes, as do other guest teachers who specialise in different areas.
Some yoga retreats are also offered with external guest teachers.
Catering
India meets Styria: Mandiras restaurants offer the best of both worlds. Special emphasis is placed on the regionality of the products. The motto “You are what you eat” is put into practice.
Guests can choose between full board with a rich breakfast buffet, light lunches and 4-course dinners, or the Ayurvedic dietary programme. This programme includes various packages such as Mandira Ayurveda, the Ayurvedic Enjoyment Diet, or the Panchakarma Diet, which is designed for holistic cleansing.
